Recreational Quality involves outdoor recreational activities directly associated with and dependent upon natural andcultural elements of the corridor’s landscape. The recreational activities provide opportunities for active and passiverecreational experiences. They include, but are not limited to, downhill skiing, rafting,boating, fishing, and hiking. Driving theroad itself may qualify as a pleasurable recreational experience. The recreationalactivities may be seasonal, but the quality and importance of the recreationalactivities as seasonal operations must bewell recognized.

Recreational opportunities abound alongUtah’s Patchwork Parkway.  From hiking,road and mountain biking; skiing to trophybig game hunting; lake and stream fishing;rifle shooting and camping tosnowmobiling; ATV travel; boating andphotography; the highway corridor offers anabundance of memorable experiences.The corridor offers recreation during allseasons of the year and for a range ofphysical abilities.  Two key recreational magnets along thecorridor are Brian Head, Utah’s highestelevation ski and summer resort andPanguitch Lake, a natural water body that hasattracted visitors since prehistoric times.  The Markagunt Plateau has always been aplace of refuge from desert heat; as well as aplace where diverse groups of people meet totrade, compete and recreate.  Each major stop along the way offers its owntype of opportunity:  Parowan and itsequestrian park, picnic areas campgrounds,and swimming pool;  Brian Head with itscross-country & downhill skiing and manyhiking and biking trails;  Cedar Breaks, withbreathtaking views and clear night skiesalong its trails; Panguitch Lake’s fishing,boating and camping opportunities; andPanguitch, offering rodeos, festivals, andsporting activities.

Mountain Bikes on Lift
Mountain Biking at Brian Head Resort is a popular summertime activity, Giant Steps chairlift #2 whisks you and your mountainbike to the top of an extensive trail network in their Mountain Bike Park. From there, you can enjoy the on-slope single track,or you can head on over to Brian Head Peak to combine on-slope trails with the area’s backcountry network.
